Come see us on the opening day of the museum’s new exhibit, 3-D Beads: A Mardi Gras Art Celebration by Marcus Ciko. Then, travel with us aboard a Dixieland Motor Coach to Natchez, Mississippi to experience a Jeweled Christmas at the Towers on Saturday, January, 6, 2018.
The itinerary begins at 10:30 a.m. with a King Cake party and a viewing of the exhibit, 3-D Beads: A Mardi Gras Art Celebration featuring the creations of Baton Rouge artist Marcus Ciko at West Baton Rouge Museum before boarding the bus. The exhibit features a selection of three dimensional creations made from Mardi Gras beads. Using unique twisting methods, Ciko has created flags, football jerseys and even entire costumes from the traditional Mardi Gras throw. Then, it is off to Natchez for a visit to The Towers for one of the most unique seasonal historic house tours in the South. The bus will depart promptly at 11:30 a.m. A Jeweled Christmas at The Towers mixes elaborate Christmas decorating with extensive jewelry displays featuring thousands of sparkling pieces of vintage costume jewelry at every turn. The Jeweled Christmas at the Towers has been named as one of the Top Ten Most Unusual Christmas Displays in the United States! The Historic Towers mansion was built over three different time periods, with the first being during the colonial western expansion of the United States around 1798. After a brief stop at the gift shop, the bus will return to West Baton Rouge Museum with an estimated arrival time of 7 p.m.
